Yoga training and experience
Thank you for visiting! I look forward to our next session together!
I was always looking for something greater than myself and a way to devote my life to the service of others. I had practiced yoga as a teenager, but in 2012 John Smrtic introduced me to the Jivamukti method. Enchanted by Jivamukti’s focus on spirituality and activism, in May 2013 I completed the Jivamukti teacher training, widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive and challenging programs of its kind, under the guidance of founders Sharon Padma Gannon and David Life. I continued directly into an intensive continuing education apprenticeship with Jessica Stickler, completing my 800 hour certification in 2014.
Diving headlong into a yoga teaching career, for 3.5 years I taught yoga classes full-time at multiple studios in New York City and New Jersey. I often taught 35+ classes per week during those years. This gave me invaluable experience tailoring my classes to the needs of students of all levels and incorporating elements of fitness, meditation, and multiple yoga traditions into my teaching repertoire.
My classes, workshops, corporate classes and private sessions are always personalized for any level of practitioner, with special attention to their needs, alignment, and the growth of the student’s personal practice. My complex, dynamically sequenced classes are set to meticulously crafted, uplifting musical soundtracks that deepen the inward experience of yogic union.
My personal daily practice of meditation, yoga and pranayama is my lifeline to health, pain management and happiness. My experiences living with chronic pain and fibromyalgia deeply inform my practice and teaching, bringing a level of awareness, sensitivity, caution and safety to my classes.
I have also enjoyed several opportunities to teach workshops and at festivals internationally, most recently at Prague Spirit Festival. I have co-facilitated India retreats and produced bhakti festivals and events. I have also studied pre- and post-natal, restorative, yin, ashtanga, and chair yoga. I live part of the year in the motherland of India, staying deeply connected to my practice, devotion and the core of yoga teachings.
